Traditional & Roth IRAs

It’s not too late to reduce your 2007 taxes! You have until April 15, 2008 to make Traditional IRA contributions for tax year 2007 and reduce your taxable income. You may contribute a total of up to $4,000* to a Traditional and/or Roth IRA for 2007 and $5,000 for 2008*. Stop in to your local First Peoples Federal Credit Union branch and start your IRA today!

Individuals age 50 and over are allowed to make an additional catch-up contribution of $1000 for the 2007 and 2008 tax years. Just a reminder, contributions to Traditional IRAs are tax deductible, meaning you can decrease your taxable income by the amount of your contribution.* Roth IRA contributions are tax-deferred, meaning you do not receive an up-front tax-deduction, but you pay no taxes on contributions or earnings when the funds are withdrawn for a qualified use.*

* Contributions may vary, please consult your tax advisor for details. Please check with your tax advisor regarding deductions, taxable income specifications and what determines a qualified withdrawal.
